Ingredients
- 1 unbaked pie crust
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1–2 teaspoons lemon juice (optional)

Directions
1. Prepare the Pie Crust:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Place the unbaked pie crust into a 9- to 10-inch deep pie dish. Decorate the edges as desired and place the pie dish on a baking sheet.
2. Cream Butter and Sugar:
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together using an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy and smooth.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
3. Add Dry Ingredients and Buttermilk:
- On low speed, mix in the flour and salt until just combined.
- Add the buttermilk and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth. If using lemon juice, stir it in at this point.
4. Assemble the Pie:
- Carefully pour the filling into the prepared pie crust.
