Begin by browning the ground beef and cooking the chopped onion in a pan over medium heat. Cook until the onion is soft and the meat is also browned. Get rid of any extra fat.
2. Preheat a slow cooker and add the meat and onion combination.
Step 3: Put everything in the slow cooker, including the macaroni, cheeses (cheddar and mozzarella), milk, cream (heavy), salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoky paprika. Blend all the ingredients together by stirring.
4. Once the pasta is almost done and the cheese sauce has melted and thickened, cover and simmer on low heat for another two to three hours. To keep from sticking, stir every so while.
5. After the macaroni and cheese are cooked, mix them well and serve them warm. Savor it!
Tips and Variations
Add your own twist to this meal if you want! For a leaner alternative, use ground chicken or turkey instead of beef. For a burst of color and some additional texture, try adding chopped tomatoes or bell peppers. Incorporate a teaspoon of chili powder or chopped jalapeños for an extra fiery bite. At the very end of the cooking process, add some broccoli or spinach if you really like vegetables. Feel free to customize this recipe to your liking; its adaptability is one of its best features.
