Toilets: A Simple and Natural Tip to Get Rid of Bad Odors

    If there is one place in the house that deserves all the attention for smell, it is the toilet.

    To use it, two options are available to you. For the first, you will need a liter of water, 10 cloves, a few drops of peppermint essential oil and five tablespoons of baking soda. Mix all the ingredients and place the open bottle near your toilet.

    Here are more tips for refreshing your toilet

    • Ventilate your toilets regularly: If you don’t have a window in the toilet, install a fan to eliminate humidity which causes bad odors.
    • The baking soda tip: Start by sprinkling the fine white powder in the bowl and leaving it to work for half an hour. Then, scrub the bowl with a brush to remove dirt and unpleasant odors, even the most stubborn urine odor.
    • White vinegar: Replace bleach with white vinegar to no longer have to deal with annoying scents. In fact, this cleaning essential helps absorb unpleasant odors coming from your cat’s litter box, the washing machine and the dishwasher. Start by soaking a sponge in vinegar and wiping the toilet seat and edges with it. Then use a toilet brush to scrub away the dirt thoroughly. Finally, use a microfiber cloth to dry and shine the targeted surfaces.
    • Essential oils: Their reputation is well-deserved since they help hide disgusting odors while releasing delectable freshness. To do this, diffuse lavender, rosemary, eucalyptus or lemongrass EO using a spray. A few drops are enough to perfume your toilets in addition to purifying the air throughout the house.

    Other methods to get rid of bad odors

    There are also other tips and tricks that  help keep your bathroom consistently deodorized . Between letting off steam and using natural products as formidable as cloves, there are other equally effective ingredients.

    • Essential oils

    As with cloves, essential oils are used to mask unpleasant odors  while pleasantly scenting the room . You can choose from several scents such as rosemary, lavender, lemongrass, mint or eucalyptus. Pour a few drops into a vaporizer spray filled with water and then spray the essential oil to clean the atmosphere of the toilet.

    • White vinegar

    An excellent disinfectant, white vinegar  is also a notable deodorant . Like bleach, which is best avoided, this is a product that can also be used  to thoroughly clean your entire home.

    To eliminate persistent odors, use a sponge soaked in the product to wipe it around the edges of your toilet. In addition to unclogging bacteria and mold,  the bad smell will disappear at the same time . For dirt that you find quite difficult to remove, use a toilet brush to remove any traces. As for drying, prefer to use a microfiber cloth. Of course, this is a method that will come at the right time for all washing machine, dishwasher or cat litter odors.

    • Sodium bicarbonate

    To deodorize with baking soda you just have to sprinkle it in the bowl and let it take effect for approximately half an hour. Next,  you will scrub the edges and walls  with a toilet brush and at the same time you will expel bad odors. It is a very effective disinfectant  that can be used to clean more than one surface in the house.

    • Pills homemade air fresheners

    Inexpensive deodorant tablets will allow you to eliminate bad odors by getting rid of the bacteria that infest the toilet bowl. For this you will need:

    • 1 lemon juice
    • A teaspoon of white vinegar
    • One cup of baking soda
    • A few drops of essential oil of your choice.
    • A teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide

    To prepare your deodorant tablets, mix the ingredients to make capsules  and let them dry overnight.  As soon as a bad smell arises, you just have to throw a tablet down the toilet before flushing. The result is a pleasant smell and clearer pipes.

    In addition, ventilation is important to eliminate bad odors. You should ventilate your toilet or bathroom regularly by opening the window wide. If you don’t have one,  you can cool the bathroom with a fan to  eliminate musty odors.
