Lime in the toilet, but not only where it deposits most easily and what to combat it with

In an imaginary domestic bathroom layout,  the toilet is undoubtedly the most prone to bacteria and dirt accumulation  . The common perception is not at all wrong, because due to the way it is used and functions, the toilet acquires limescale as well as bacteria, which if not treated properly over time can cause stains and streaks of stains of an unpleasant brown colour.

If you have a glass shower, it probably ranks second in the ideal ranking of dirtiest places. The annoying drops of lime that accumulate on both the glass and the tiles increase the perception of dirt and neglect, leaving halos and stains.

There are countless products on the market to remedy the problem,  but they are often rich in chemicals that are not very environmentally friendly. In addition, their smell, even with added fragrances, is unfortunately often too strong and almost unpleasant.

What you probably don’t know is that the best ally for cleaning the bathroom is a product that you probably already have at home. The ideal ally is, in fact, white vinegar, which can be used in many different ways.

White vinegar really lends itself to countless applications when it comes to cleaning. For example, for dark stains on the toilet, simply pour it generously directly on the stains (or on the floor if the problem is below the water level) and let it sit for about 20-30 minutes.  The vinegar works by weakening the stain  so you can clean it by scrubbing it with a toothbrush or sponge. In addition to cleaning, vinegar is an excellent ally for disinfecting, so regular use of this method will also help prevent stains from reappearing.

The application for shower glass is very similar. In this case, it is advisable to make a mixture of 250 ml of water, 2 tablespoons of vinegar and 2 tablespoons of baking soda. Ideally, pour the mixture into a spray bottle, spray it on the shower glass and let it sit for about 20 minutes. You can then proceed by rubbing with a sponge, rinsing with water and drying with a paper towel.

The same solution, but without baking soda, can also be used to clean tiles  , both inside and outside the shower. For tiles, the dosages are slightly different, as the ratio should be 2/3 vinegar and 1/3 water. Again, the solution can be sprayed directly onto the tiles, left to soak in, and then removed with a damp cloth, rubbing if there are any stains or small moulds.

It is also useful for laundry, adding a few tablespoons of vinegar to the detergent softens the clothes  and removes the most ingrained dirt. It is also a good helper for the maintenance and internal cleaning of the washing machine.
