Skillet Apple Pie Biscuits
Ingredients
4 cups of peeled and sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work great)
1/2 cup of granulated sugar
1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
1/4 cup of unsalted butter
1 can (16.3 oz) of refrigerated flaky layer biscuits
2 tablespoons of brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon of ground allspice
1/2 cup of granulated sugar
1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
1/4 cup of unsalted butter
1 can (16.3 oz) of refrigerated flaky layer biscuits
2 tablespoons of brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon of ground allspice
Directions
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a large mixing bowl, toss the apple slices with granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
3. Melt the butter in a large, ovenproof skillet over medium heat. Once melted, add the apples and cook for about 5-7 minutes until they start to soften, stirring occasionally.
4. Open the can of biscuits and separate them. Cut each biscuit into quarters.
5. Arrange the biscuit quarters over the cooked apples in the skillet.
6. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and ground allspice, and then sprinkle this mixture evenly over the biscuits.
7. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
