Ingredients
For the Tart Base:
- 1 ¾ cups (220 g) all-purpose flour
- ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp cold water
- Pinch of salt
For the Filling:
- 5 eggs
- 1 cup (240 ml) cream
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp dry garlic powder
- 1 tsp basil
- ¼ cup (25 g) grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ cup (50 g) shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or Gruyere)
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 4 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1 tbsp olive oil
For the Salad:
- 2 cups (60 g) fresh arugula
- 2 tbsp sunflower seeds
- 2 tbsp cream cheese
- 1 tbsp mayonnaise
- Juice of 1 orange
- Juice of ½ lemon
- ½ tsp cardamom
- 1 tbsp balsamic glaze
Directions
Prepare the Tart Base:
- Combine flour and salt in a bowl. Add cold butter and rub into the flour until crumbly.
- Add the egg and cold water, mixing until a dough forms. Chill for 15 minutes.
- Roll out the dough and press into a 9-inch tart pan. Trim edges and prick the base with a fork.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F) and bake the crust for 10 minutes.
