Ingredients

For the Tart Base:

  • 1 ¾ cups (220 g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp cold water
  • Pinch of salt

For the Filling:

  • 5 eggs
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cream
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp dry garlic powder
  • 1 tsp basil
  • ¼ cup (25 g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup (50 g) shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or Gruyere)
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 4 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For the Salad:

  • 2 cups (60 g) fresh arugula
  • 2 tbsp sunflower seeds
  • 2 tbsp cream cheese
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • Juice of 1 orange
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • ½ tsp cardamom
  • 1 tbsp balsamic glaze

Directions

Prepare the Tart Base:

  • Combine flour and salt in a bowl. Add cold butter and rub into the flour until crumbly.
  • Add the egg and cold water, mixing until a dough forms. Chill for 15 minutes.
  • Roll out the dough and press into a 9-inch tart pan. Trim edges and prick the base with a fork.
  • Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F) and bake the crust for 10 minutes.
