2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour five 8-inch round cake pans or line them with parchment paper.
2. Prepare Cake Batter
In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
In another bowl, whisk together oil, buttermilk, eggs, red food coloring, vanilla extract, and vinegar.
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
3. Bake
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans.
– Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
4. Prepare Cream Cheese Frosting
Beat the softened butter and cream cheese together until smooth and creamy.
Gradually add powdered sugar, beating until fully incorporated and fluffy.
Mix in vanilla extract.

5. Assemble the Cake
Once the cakes are completely cooled, level the tops if needed.
Place one layer of cake on a serving plate or cake board. Spread a layer of cream cheese frosting on top.
Repeat with remaining layers of cake and frosting, ending with a layer of cake on top.
Frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining cream cheese frosting.
6. Chill and Serve
Chill the assembled cake for about an hour to set the frosting.
Slice and serve.
