No more suffering from clogged sinks. A simple trick that saved you from this torment

It is not always necessary to call a plumber to clean pipes. You can figure it out yourself – it will take half an hour. Yes, poking around in the contents of the pipes is not very pleasant, but it is free and you do not have to wait for a specialist.

Blockages are not always caused by stagnation of debris in the siphon. A layer of dirt and grease can also cover the corrugated pipe that goes into the sewer. But much more often, the reason why water stands in the sink and does not go away is precisely because the siphon is dirty.

I’ll tell you how to clean it yourself.

    Preparation

First, place a container under the flask – a saucepan or plastic bucket will do. If there is some water in the siphon, it will fall into the container.

Tip: For those who have never cleaned pipes before, it is better to take a photo of the flask so that you always know which part goes where. It is best to take a photo of each step so that you can screw the components back on later.

    Cleaning step by step

First, I remove the corrugated pipe: I unscrew the plastic ring and disconnect the element. The pipe needs to be fixed in a vertical position so that it looks with the hole upwards – otherwise water may leak out.

Now I unscrew the top ring.

And I pull the flask down. If I have to apply force, that’s good, it means the rubber gasket is preventing the water from leaking out.

I pour out all the liquid from the removed flask and inspect the part. If the central hole is visible, it means the problem is not in it. If it is covered with a thick layer of dirt, it means the water cannot get through the fat and this is why the blockage has occurred.

    One part remains unexplored:

This pipe needs to be removed. I take a screwdriver or a drill, from the side of the sink I unscrew the nut, which is immersed in the strainer in the drain.

I put the strainer and nut aside. I move under the sink to get the pipe.

Finally, I examine the siphon from the inside.

The hole is not visible, it is clogged with food residue, grease and dirt. That is the reason for the blockage! I pick out the dirt with any available tool, rinse everything under water and put it back.
