Gooey Butter Cake Bars Recipe

★Ingredients

For the crust:

1 box of yellow cake mix

1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted

1 egg

For the filling:

8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted

4 cups (500g) powdered sugar

★Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Make the crust: In a medium bowl, mix the yellow cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg until well combined. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  3. Prepare the filling: In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla extract and continue to beat. Slowly add the melted butter and powdered sugar, mixing until the filling is creamy and smooth.
  4. Assemble: Pour the filling over the crust, spreading it evenly.
  5. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the center is slightly jiggly (it will firm up as it cools).
  6. Cool completely before slicing into squares.
