Is the freezer covered in ice? The simple trick to defrost it in 5 minutes

With this procedure, you won’t have to defrost more than once or twice a year, whether you have an old or new model of refrigerator or freezer. And for that, salt is the ingredient that is at the heart of this trick, which consists of using it in the form of a brine solution and applying it to the walls of the freezer.

To do this, first turn off your appliance. Then add 2 tablespoons of salt to a bowl of hot water, pour the mixture into a spray bottle after completely dissolving the ingredient in the water, and then spray the inside of your appliance. After a few minutes, the ice should melt. At the same time, remove the layer of frost with a wooden stick.

If the inside of your device ever becomes yellowish, you can brighten it with hydrogen peroxide before rubbing it with a soft cloth soaked in glycerin. This creates a thin film that prevents the rapid formation of layers of frost.

Other Methods for Defrosting the Refrigerator and Freezer
The following methods can defrost the refrigerator and speed up the process. You can also combine them if it suits you.

– Defrost the refrigerator with baking soda
If you don’t have salt for some reason, baking soda is always a working alternative, although it’s not as effective as salt water. In any case, it helps prevent a layer of moisture from forming, which eventually freezes and turns into a layer of ice over time.

To apply, sprinkle a tablespoon of baking soda on the ice layers, then rub the ice with a cloth dipped in warm water and talcum powder.

Let the product sit for 20 minutes and repeat the process before breaking up the ice with a mixture of warm water and baking soda to help defrost. For stubborn ice, use a wooden or hard plastic spatula to defrost it manually, but without applying too much force. Then clean it, being careful not to scratch the surfaces. Rinse with a damp microfibre cloth and dry before turning the appliance back on.

On this occasion, remember that baking soda is an excellent refrigerator deodorizer.
