Avocado is a delicious and irresistible food, versatile enough to be added to a myriad of preparations , or eaten alone (add a spoonful of olive oil and a pinch of salt, delicious!). The first thing to do is to extract the seed from the avocado , without cutting or breaking it. Once the seed has been washed to eliminate any residue of the vegetable, and dried carefully, you need to proceed with the preparation of the soil.

Some seeds are triangular in shape, while others are more spherical. But they all have a bottom end (where the roots will come out) and a top end. It is important to determine the end where the roots will come out, as this is the end that needs to be immersed in water.

Insert toothpicks into the sides of the seed, and place it in a glass of water (the bottom part must be completely submerged, see photo).

Germinate the seed for 3-6 weeks. After this time, a shoot will have grown on the top of the seed, and roots on the bottom.

When the stem reaches a height of about 15-20 centimeters, cut it in half to encourage the growth of a new one. Finally, move the plant to a larger pot, making a hole in the center of the pot to put the plant.
