Roaches are unwelcome guests that adapt easily to human habitats, and while professional extermination is an option, there are natural, kitchen-friendly remedies to eliminate them. Here are four expert-approved methods to get rid of roaches naturally, shared by Natasha Wright, a certified entomologist and technical director at Braman Termite & Pest Elimination.
Peppermint Oil: Known as a potent pest deterrent, peppermint oil can be an effective solution for roach infestations. Mix 15 drops of peppermint oil with 10 ounces of water and spray in roach-infested areas. This solution is safe around children and pets.
Dish Soap: Common dish soap can suffocate and kill roaches. Create a solution by mixing four tablespoons of dish detergent with one liter of water and spray it where you notice roach activity.
Coffee Grounds: Utilize coffee grounds as a natural pest lure. Place grounds in paper cups within water-filled jars near roach-prone areas. The aroma attracts roaches into this trap, from which they can’t escape.

Avoid leaving dirty dishes in the sink and store food in airtight containers.
Remove uneaten pet food.
Vacuum floors post meals.
Address plumbing issues to eliminate their water source.
