Another option, which is not as chemical-heavy but still works well, is to use a vinegar mixture instead. White vinegar can clean, remove odors, and kill germs because it contains acetic acid. Vinegar can kill 82% of different types of mold, like black mold, on any type of surface, whether it is porous or non-porous.
Put pure white vinegar in a spray bottle without mixing it with water because this can make it less effective. Next, apply the vinegar to the moldy area and let it sit for one hour. Lastly, wash the affected area with water and allow it to dry. Even though the vinegar odor goes away quickly, you can put a couple of drops of essential oils like lavender or lemon if you don’t like the smell of vinegar.
Bicarbonate of soda:
This versatile product can be used in various ways at home, such as getting rid of black mold and soaking up extra moisture in rooms where it’s a problem. One advantage of this product is that it is safe for your loved ones and pets.
Add a small amount of baking soda to a spray bottle full of water. Shake well until the mixture is even. Next, apply the solution to the moldy area, scrub it with a brush to clean the mold, and then rinse the surface with water to remove any leftover product. Lastly, spray the area one more time and allow it to dry without wiping it. This will also stop mold from coming back.
To remove tough black mold, combine two parts baking soda with one part water and one part white vinegar. Mix well until a thick paste is formed. Apply a lot of paste on the area that is affected and allow it to dry. Next, clean the mold and stains by scrubbing them, and then rinse with water.
Oil from the tea tree plant:
Essential oils have many uses beyond aromatherapy. Tea tree oil is a natural product that can clean, freshen, and keep bugs away. This organic fungicide can be used to fight black mold.
Combine a small spoonful of tea tree oil with a full cup of water in a spray bottle. Shake well to mix the water and oil together. Next, apply the spray to the surface with mold, allow it to dry for an hour, and then clean it with a microfiber cloth or a dry towel. Remember to use gloves when handling essential oils, as they can cause skin irritation in some people.
Lemon:
This cleaning product can help get rid of black mold because it works as an antiseptic, deodorizer, bleach, stain remover, and cleaner. The strong acid in it breaks down mold, making it easier to remove. It disinfects the surface and leaves a nice lemon smell.
Squeeze the juice of three to five lemons into a cup. Pour the juice over the moldy area and let it sit for five minutes. Next, clean it with a wet cloth. If the mold stains are hard to remove, rub the surface with lemons to eliminate them.
If the mold is difficult to remove and doesn’t go away after trying different solutions, it’s a good idea to hire a professional cleaning service that specializes in removing mold using the most up-to-date technology and tools.
