Vinegar. If the burn stains are more difficult to remove, vinegar will certainly be the right choice for you. Heat some white vinegar, soak a cloth in it and then pass it over the burnt plate. If this does not remove the stains, add 2 or 3 tablespoons of baking soda to the hot vinegar and repeat the process. Don’t forget to clean the plate before putting it away.
Candle method. As strange as it may seem, this method is one of the most effective. Heat the soleplate of the iron, but do not let it get hot. Unplug it, then pass a white candle horizontally over the plate: the wax will start to melt.
Then pass the still hot iron over an old towel or microfiber cloth, as if you were ironing. Finally, once the plate has cooled, first wipe the surface with half a lemon, then with a dry cloth.
