How to clean radiators without making dust all over the house

Radiators are indispensable elements in our homes, they keep them warm and, since their invention, they have drastically improved the quality of our lives.

However, these are “static” elements that tend to accumulate a lot of dust , which can make them less efficient as well as being a problem if we suffer from allergies or other respiratory problems.

Cleaning your radiator is very important before and during the cold months, and below we suggest how to do it.

To clean the outside of aluminum radiators, simply wipe them with a microfiber cloth. Once the dust is removed, moisten the cloth with warm water, a little vinegar and a few drops of soap and wipe it over the surface again. This last step helps remove mites and dirt.

Cleaning the inside of the radiator is a little more complex.

The first step is to remove the dust accumulations between the radiator fins. To do this, we suggest using a vacuum cleaner with a thin nozzle that can fit between the radiator slots. Insert the nozzle from one end, and try to close the other end to create a “suction” effect.

If this method is not applicable, you can try to insert a fairly long tool between the cracks, to which you need to tie a microfibre cloth.

In a bucket, mix warm water with white vinegar, baking soda and a little soap. Dampen a cloth and try to pass it between the cracks of the radiator where possible. Finally, use a dry cloth to remove residue and dirt.
