Cleaning untreated wooden furniture

Cleaning untreated wooden furniture requires special tricks. Small scratches on glass can often be removed with a piece of cork. For more stubborn stains, a mixture of ash and petrol can be used. A tried and tested trick is to mix wine and olive oil, which is applied to a cotton cloth and used to clean the furniture.

Caring for varnished wooden furniture

Varnished wooden furniture is easier to clean and retains its shine longer. A mixture of linseed oil and isopropyl alcohol is used as a cleaning agent here. This mixture can be enriched with glycerin for additional protection. Once applied, the mixture should be left to work for about ten minutes before being wiped off with a clean cotton cloth to remove residue and polish the surface.
