Doing your laundry correctly is the first step to making all your clothes soft and smell good. Here’s an easy, quick and cheap remedy to get it. How? Simply using a small amount of coarse table salt.
How much time do we spend in the supermarket aisles choosing the product that best suits our needs? And how many of them, once tried, really satisfy us?
Getting perfect clothes without buying dozens of packets of detergent and fabric softener is possible, and it’s easier than you imagine. Here’s how the coarse salt we use in the kitchen can become the perfect ally for machine washing.
THE BENEFITS OF ROCK SALT FOR OUR LAUNDRY
Once we’ve finished washing our clothes in the washing machine, we run the risk of noticing that the center softness of our laundry doesn’t correspond to what we really expected.
At this point, our instinct is to run out and buy new products to test them and be able to give our washing machines the desired result. What if we discovered that all we need to do to achieve this is to put two tablespoons of coarse salt in the drum before washing?
Coarse salt, in fact, thanks to its ability to make water less calcareous, will ensure the softness of our laundry, without having to resort to expensive softeners every time.
This will happen in all types of fabrics: we can therefore say “goodbye” to hard, hard-to-wear jeans and sponge towels that, wash after wash, lose more and more of their soft and pleasant texture.
Getting into the habit of using coarse salt to wash clothes in the washing machine will also preserve the brightness of the colors of our garments and avoid the annoying yellowing that we sometimes experience.
For this to happen, it is enough to soak the clothes for a few hours in water and coarse salt; Once this time has elapsed, we can proceed to machine wash it without rinsing.
Cleaning & Maintenance
In addition to preserving the beauty and durability of clothing and lingerie, rock salt is also effective for cleaning and maintaining our washing machines.
As we have already mentioned, coarse salt is able to make water less chalky, so it can also be used to remove dirt residues that, over time, can accumulate inside the drum and pipes of our washing machines.
For thorough cleaning, simply pour a 1 kg package into the basket and perform a high-temperature vacuum wash.
A small cup of coarse salt in the washing machine drum when it’s not running will also prevent moisture, mold, and odor from building up.
