Cherry Bars for a Crowd

    Ingredients:
    For the bars:
    1 cup unsalted butter, softened
    2 cups granulated sugar
    4 large eggs
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1/4 teaspoon almond extract
    3 cups all-purpose flour
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
    For the glaze:
    1 cup powdered sugar
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1/2 teaspoon almond extract
    2 to 3 tablespoons milk

    Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 15x10x1 inch baking pan.
    In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in vanilla and almond extracts.
    Gradually add flour and salt to the creamed mixture, mixing well.
    Spread three-fourths of the batter into the prepared pan. Spread the cherry pie filling evenly over the batter. Drop the remaining batter by teaspoonfuls over the filling.
    Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.
    For the glaze: Whisk together powdered sugar, vanilla extract, almond extract, and enough milk to achieve a drizzling consistency. Drizzle over the cooled bars.
