An old, old recipe it belonged to my husband’s grandmother she passed in 1952 at age 94
I added to the recipe: (1 teaspoon salt and 1 ½ baking soda) Mix dry ingredients then add in eggs, milk, water, butter, vanilla beat 2 minutes bake 350* I used two 9″ cake pans. ***I poured the boiling water over the cocoa & stirred until smooth then added to the mix. No directions of how long to bake I started watching at 25 min. checked the old way with a tooth pick. There was no frosting recipe…Made chocolate butter cream frosting using 8oz cream cheese, 1 stick butter. splash cream and enough cocoa to get the color I wanted, 1te vanilla. Start with 3 cups powdered sugar, add more as needed. Butter cream frosting is so forgiving adjust amounts to suit yourself, do not use too much cream to start, just enough to get the dry ingredients to mix, then if too stiff add more cream by the teaspoon. Garnish with walnuts etc. Enjoy
