Why You’ll Love This Caramel Frosting:

    • Rich flavor: It’s the perfect balance of creamy, buttery, and sweet with a deep caramel flavor.
    • Versatile: It goes well with almost any cake, from chocolate and vanilla to apple or carrot cake.
    • Easy to make: With just a few ingredients and simple steps, you can make this frosting at home in no time.
    • Perfect texture: This frosting is soft and spreadable but thick enough to hold its shape without sliding off the cake.

    Tips & Variations:

    • Make it spicier: Add some sliced jalapeños or hot sauce to the meat mixture for a spicy twist.
    • Use different cheeses: If you don’t have provolone, you can use mozzarella, American, or even cheddar for a different flavor.
    • Add mushrooms: For an authentic Philly cheesesteak feel, sauté some mushrooms with the onions and peppers.
    • Add a tangy twist: A drizzle of cheesesteak sauce or BBQ sauce on the buns before adding the filling can add another layer of flavor.
    • For a healthier version: Swap the ground beef for ground chicken or turkey and use whole wheat buns for a lighter option.

    Ingredients:

    • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey for a leaner option)
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
    • 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 teaspoon steak seasoning (or just salt and pepper)
    • 1/4 cup beef broth
    • 1/4 cup mayonnaise (for creamy texture)
    • 4 sandwich buns (preferably soft rolls or hoagie buns)
    • 1 1/2 cups provolone cheese (shredded or sliced)
    • 1 tablespoon butter (optional, for toasting the buns)

    1. Cook the Ground Beef:

    • Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
    • Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through (about 6-8 minutes).
    • Drain any excess fat, then season with steak seasoning (or salt and pepper to taste). Stir in minced garlic, chopped onion, and chopped green bell pepper. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables soften.

    2. Make the Sloppy Joe Filling:

    • Pour in Worcestershire sauce and beef broth. Stir to combine and bring the mixture to a simmer.
    • Let it cook for about 5-7 minutes, allowing the sauce to reduce slightly. You should have a thick, saucy filling that’s perfect for the buns.

    3. Toast the Buns (optional but recommended):

    • While the meat mixture simmers, you can toast the buns. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a separate skillet over medium heat.
    • Place the buns cut-side down in the skillet and toast them until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. This adds a nice crunch and helps the buns hold up against the juicy filling.

    4. Assemble the Sloppy Joes:

    • Once the meat mixture is ready, remove the skillet from heat.
    • Stir in 1/4 cup of mayonnaise to add creaminess to the filling (this is optional but adds a nice richness to the overall taste).
    • Spoon the Philly cheesesteak filling onto the bottom half of each toasted bun.
    • Top each sandwich with shredded provolone cheese (or a slice of provolone) while the filling is still hot, so it melts into the meat mixture.

    5. Serve:

    • Place the top half of the buns on the sandwiches and serve hot! For an extra cheesy experience, you can add more provolone on top or even pop the assembled sandwiches under the broiler for a minute to melt the cheese completely.

In a skillet pan, over medium-high heat, cook and crumble the ground beef, onion, green pepper, and salt until beef is no longer pink. Drain. Stir the cornstarch into the ground beef and mix together until the meat is coated in the cornstarch. Add the beef broth, A-1 sauce, and steak seasoning. Stir together and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce heat to medium-low and let it simmer, while stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes. Mixture should thicken up and will thicken up more once it’s off the heat. While meat is simmering, set the oven to broil, and place the buns on a cookie sheet. Butter each bun. Broil for just a few minutes. Watch carefully as they can burn easily. When the meat is done use a slotted spoon to scoop it out onto each bottom bun. Place a slice of provolone cheese on the top bun. Broil for a few more minutes until cheese is melted. Place the top bun with the cheese on top of the bottom bun with the philly cheesesteak meat. Eat warm!
