2 cups milk
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup cornstarch

In a medium saucepan, melt the sugar over low heat until it turns into a golden caramel. Stir continuously to avoid burning.
Carefully add 1 cup of milk to the caramel, stirring until the sugar completely dissolves. Be cautious as the mixture may bubble.
In a separate bowl, whisk the remaining milk with cornstarch until smooth.
Add the milk-cornstarch mixture to the caramel saucepan, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
Cook over medium heat until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
