- 30 wings
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons mirin
- 1/2 cup honey
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon minced ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- Sesame seeds for garnish
- Prepare the Chicken Wings:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the chicken wings with olive oil, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder. Toss to coat the wings evenly.
- Spread the wings out in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until crispy and golden brown, flipping halfway through.
- Make the Honey Garlic Sauce:
- While the wings are baking, prepare the sauce. In a medium saucepan, combine soy sauce, mirin, honey, water, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Place the saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the mixture begins to simmer.
- Thicken the Sauce:
- In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of water to create a slurry.
- Slowly pour the slurry into the simmering sauce, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Coat the Wings:
- Once the wings are done baking, transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the wings and toss until they are thoroughly coated.
- Serve and Garnish:
- Arrange the coated wings on a serving platter. Sprinkle with sesame seeds for garnish.
